While Obama attempts to rewrite history, the truth remains - so far, anyway - fact. If you believe Obama, everything bad that has happened over the last decade has been the fault of the Bush Administration, while everything good (slim pickings indeed) has been directly attributable to Obama's administration. I read recently that the tragedy that presently exists - and persists - in America is that there are still people who believe the political snake-oil salespeople. Naiveté rules supreme. I think a more accurate description of this form of delusion is 'wishful thinking'.
On January 20, 2001,when George Bush took the oath of office that created him President of these United States, there was an instant division between the Left and the Right side of the aisle that ensured all-out war between the principal parties, with no quarter asked or given. That situation still remains, to-date. We are in a state of political feud: the knives are out, and the thrust and slash of the application of complete power from one side and the absence of any ability to resist or retaliate from the other, are driving the populace to turn away from either side and form a somewhat confused settlement right of center - ergo, the stunning result in Massachusetts with the election of the right-of-center Senator Scott Brown.

justice on our behalf that we - and most of the free world - cheered. Actually, we went nuts. We experienced a rebirth of patriotism after being struck such a horrific blow, defiantly flying Old Glory as if every day was Independence Day, then we got less and less passionate about the outrage that had unified us, until that passion gradually faded away and our patriotism went into hibernation once more.
True to his word, Bush declared war on terrorists and terrorism, and we took the fight to the enemy. Our support was modest: most of us were okay with it. However, the far-Left Secular Progressives, were not so enthusiastic. As the war progressed, that murmur of dissent grew into a thunder of opposition. All manner of groups were formed and protests were held, and the so-called 'mainstream media' endorsed the growing wave to the point of an almost fanatical 'feeding frenzy', creating (continued on page 2) |
